Write for us

Select News Spotlight welcomes considered proposals about the choices, formats and routes that shape how news is encountered. We are interested in clear, original work for curious general readers.

Ideas we welcome

Pitch an explanation, comparison, historical piece, myth-check or focused reading guide connected to news selection and presentation. Strong proposals take one distinct question, explain why it matters and show what a reader will understand by the end.

Make the pitch specific

Include a working title, a short summary, the central point and a brief note about the material or examples you would use. Keep the scope manageable and distinguish what can be supported from what would be speculation. We do not need a completed article with an initial proposal.

Sending a proposal

Send proposals through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. Please include enough detail to assess the idea, but do not send confidential material or claim access you cannot substantiate. A submission is not a promise of publication.
